Alpek Polyester do Brasil is an integrated business unit of Alpek, a publicly traded petrochemical company, with shares traded on the Mexican Stock Exchange, comprising Grupo Petrotemex, S.A. from C.V. and DAK Americas LLC and subsidiaries. It is the petrochemical segment of the Alfa group, a multinational also of Mexican origin active in several business areas.

Alpek is present in the Polyester (PTA and PET) markets, through Alpek Polyester, and Plastics & Chemicals (polypropylene, polystyrene, caprolactam and other specialty chemicals). Currently, the company operates 28 plants in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and the United Kingdom, and has more than 6,000 employees.

With the integration of the Brazil business in 2018, Alpek Polyester became the largest integrated producer of PET and PTA in South America. It also stands out for its leadership in the Mexican Polypropylene, Expanded Polystyrene and Caprolactam market and occupies a relevant position in North America, with concentration in the beverage market. Located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex, in Ipojuca (PE), the Brazilian company produces the main inputs for the Polyester chain: purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and PET resin.
