PTA plant

The unit is installed in an area of 160,000 m² within the industrial complex of Alpek Polyester in Brazil. It is the only PTA producer in South America, with a nominal production capacity of 700 thousand tons/year. It operates with Invista Performance Technologies technology, optimizing productivity, minimizing the use of natural resources and the risk of accidents, in addition to increasing product reliability. The national consumption of PTA is mainly destined to the production of PET resins.

PET plant

The unit occupies a space of 387,000 m² (or 70% of the complex). It produces polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin and thermoplastic polyester polymer. It has a PET production capacity of 450,000 ton/year and DTY up to 96,000/ton/year.

PET is produced industrially by direct esterification of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) with monoethylene glycol (MEG). PET resin is used in beverage bottle packaging (soft drinks, water, juices, etc.), in addition to several other applications, and is found in various consumer segments.
